Why I Share My Training Journal
Date Created: 2023-03-25
Like most people, I can't afford to quit my job and just focus on training, but I'm striving to reach as close to my endurance potential as I possibly can within the constraints of the rest of my life. I want to train as intelligently as I can to not waste energy on things that ultimately aren't helping me get better. So I've read a bunch of training books, listened to a bunch of podcasts, read some journal articles, and followed some smart people online to learn as much as I can.
I found so much training information that it became challenging to synthesize and implement that information in a way that would improve the quality of my training. This challenge was exacerbated because I had no reliable method to determine whether or not my training was working until race day.
My training journal documents my attempts to apply what I learn and develop my own personal best way to train. I want to provide an example of how a self coached amateur athlete can add more analytical rigor to their training, and I want to connect with other like-minded athletes. So if my training journal or writing has caught your interest, please get in touch by emailing [email protected].
