About Me

I'm Shane Feuz. I am a road, trail, and ultra runner living and training in Cache Valley, Utah with my wife and our two huskies. We love getting out in nature together, whether it's camping, backpacking, hiking, running, biking, or anything else.
I've been a runner off and on throughout my life, and I have been training consistently since 2020. The earliest race result I can remember is my mile time from my 6th grade PE class. I ran a 6:31 and got 2nd place in my class.
I ran my first ultramarathon in December 2020 at the McDowell Mountain Frenzy 50 miler. Things went well in that first ultra for the first 40 miles or so, after which I was pretty wrecked and had to walk/shuffle it in to the finish. That experience made it painfully clear that I still had so much to learn and discover about ultrarunning. I was proud to finish the race, but I knew I could do better. So I have been training, learning, and tinkering ever since.
I'm currently training for the 2024 White Pine 50, and a longer term goal of putting together a solid performance at the The Bear 2025.
Besides endurance training, I also enjoy learning new tech skills, like building this website. I also am working on a python project to track my rating of perceived effort for each mile or lap split that I run to be able to perform more granular and specific data analysis in addition to the reports that are readily available on platforms like Strava or TrainingPeaks.
In my day job, I am a financial analyst for an agricultural lending bank. My other interests include reading epic fantasy and science fiction, playing basketball, following the NBA and Utah State basketball and football, playing the piano, RPG and strategy video games, and most importantly, spending time with the people I love.
